Abdominal Migraine Symptoms

Abdominal Migraine Symptoms Are often Misdiagnosed.

When a person thinks of a migraine they often only think of a severe headache. This is not the case. Migraine is a type of affliction that has specific symptoms and occurs in episodes lasting for one to three days at a time. abdominal migraine symptoms are often the most misdiagnosed type of migraine. People suffering from abdominal migraine symptoms are often considered to have irritable bowel syndrome, Crohns disease or even ulcers because many of the symptoms are identical. Abdominal migraine symptoms include nausea, vomiting, intense abdominal pain as well as loss of skin coloration during the episode. What sets this apart from other gastrointestinal diseases is that abdominal migraine symptoms also include sensitivity to light, dark circles under the eyes and sometimes intense headaches. These last symptoms are what qualify this affliction in the migraine category.

Another way to determine is if the symptoms come on as attacks with time in-between the onset of symptoms. Abdominal migraines, unlike IBS or other stomach related problems, do not last all the time. There will be periods in-between the onset of symptoms that are symptom free. abdominal migraine symptoms are often found in children between the ages of 5 and 9. There has been no medical data yet to determine why this seems to be the age bracket most affected with the disease, but it can occur in adults as well. Children that show signs of abdominal migraine symptoms are more likely to suffer with other types of migraine problems when they enter adulthood.

While this is not a common diagnosis, it is becoming a more widely accepted one. This is great news for anyone suffering from abdominal migraine symptoms. Today diagnosis of the disease has become easier and there are several medical and homeopathic remedies for abdominal migraine symptoms. Often just completing a family history questionnaire can help the diagnosis because migraine symptoms tend to run in families.
